Quetico Fire Ranger Staff, 1908. In 1908, the fire staff was increased from 4 to 10 rangers for the summer months. Front row: Alex Henry (ranger), George Wall (ranger), Robert Readman (chief ranger), Ephram Crawford. Back row: Ernie Darlington, ?, ?, George Katz, ?, ?; George Watts, Crown timber agent - standing, extreme right. Fire ranger salary: $75/month, Chief ranger: $125/month (John B. Wilbur and Bernice Hyatt on the Steps at the Beaverhouse Ranger Station in 1982. Wilbur and Bernice manned Cabin 16 on Basswood Lake from 1967 unitl it closed as an entry point in 1980. They then moved to Beaverhouse until they retired in 1985 (John B. Ridley Research Library).
A big crowd of Atikokan high school students and volunteers helped to plant the special White Pine seedlings grown by the Quetico Foundation in late May.	Tall pines Project.	The tree planting included students Charlene Happy and Chris Morden.
