At long last the Ministry has released the Management Options Paper associated with Quetico Park Management Plan Review process which has been underway since July 2006. The Paper presents various options for public discussion, on key issues to be addressed in the Plan. The Quetico Foundation will be developing a formal response to the Management Options Paper to meet the October 15, 2010 deadline for submission of comments.

This review is one of the most important tasks the Foundation will undertake and is at the core of our purpose. This Plan will provide the framework for the way in which Quetico Park will be managed for decades to come The Plan Review is complex and must consider many issues from economic development in the surrounding area to invasive species within the Park. Simultaneously, it must align itself with policies and regulations imposed upon it by three levels of government.

The Foundation’s responses to the Ministry in relationship to previous phases of this process are also available for your reference. This is a response to the Background Information document produced by Ontario Parks in 2006.
